This spring, Sasha Wagner, Julia Hubbard, and Veronica Nowak sailed more than 1,000 miles west of Costa Rica to the East Pacific Rise in search of evidence that hydrothermal vents are a globally important source of long-lived organic carbon in the deep ocean.
